The Crew

Jeraldine

Frustrated with the corporate rat race, Jeraldine Lenox hatched the idea of opening a music studio back in 2020. Born into the crazy life of musicians, her father Michael is a veteran of the local scene, and her husband George an avid guitar nerd and sometimes rock star. She’s a huge music fan and knows more songs and lyrics than anyone. She will fearlessly try her hand at most things, e.g., restoring rusty drum kits, sound engineering, and DIY and decorating. Nineteen Eighty Studios is a real labour of love for Jeraldine, and her personality and handywork can be found throughout the space.

George

George Lenox moved to Singapore from Bournemouth in 2017 after his band, Forever Never, finally called it a day. Determined to seek out like-minded musos, he soon found his people within the local live music scene at places such as Crazy Elephant and Barbershop, both of which hosted a weekly jam night. By 2021, George, Jeraldine and JK found themselves in an 80s cover band together, and then the idea of opening a studio became a reality. With George’s long experience in the industry as well as being a professional graphic designer, drawing up the floor plans, procuring the equipment, and setting everything up from a technical standpoint (including the website you’re looking at right now) was fairly straightforward.

JK

After a stint in Perth around 20 years ago as a professional musician, JK took a hiatus from music and only picked up the bass again when George and Jeraldine needed a bassist for their band, and that was when the discussion around opening a studio was getting serious. JK wanted in, and thus, the dream team was born. Jon is our business guy, having worked in the ad agency business and the finance sector. He enjoys the production and technical aspects of running our events and is a competent bassist and singer in his own right. You’ll typically see him at the sound desk unless he’s onstage playing and singing at our jam nights.

JK and George play kickass original music with There Be Wolves.

Roxie

Roxie has been with us since the beginning, adding tremendous value to the studio. She prefers people to cats and is accustomed to receiving a lot of attention. She makes the place that much more welcoming and cosy.
